Adelaide S. Lilly

Adelaide S. Lilly, 90, passed on August 24, 2019.  She was born July 8, 1929 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Carmen Schneider and Frances Justine (Miller) Schneider.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. Lilly; brothers, Francis C. Schneider, Joseph C. Schneider; sister, Justine Miller Schneider Strayer Rusnak; and her nephew, Norman T. Strayer.

Adelaide retired after 35 years from the US Government in Washington D.C. as an executive with the EPA.  After retirement, she moved to Manatee County.  She was an angel on earth living a life of perpetual service to others.  Even in her elderly years while residing at Desoto Towers, she would deliver papers to all 12 floors.  She’d ride her bike over the bridge into Palmetto and pick up donuts for 5 days a week for all the residents.  She would walk peoples dogs. (She loved dogs!)  She delivered Meals on Wheels.  She took care of the elderly and spent time with them when they lost a loved one.

Left to cherish her memory are niece, Carol Suzanne Rosa; nephews, Mark and Michael Schneider; and numerous great nieces and nephews.  And of course her many dear friends that she loved like family.

Memorial contributions may be left in her honor the Humane Society of Manatee County 2515 14th St W, Bradenton, Florida 34205.  Arrangements are being handled for the family by Maloney Funeral Home.
