Jacob Dwayne Spear
Jacob Dwayne Spear was born May 11, 1958 in Sarasota where he was a lifelong resident until May 14, 2020 when he moved to Heaven.
While very passionate about his wife and son, Jacob’s life included seasons in which he served as a volunteer fire fighter, an EMT, a structural concrete supervisor and boat maintenance diver.
As an avid hunter, spear fisherman, Jacob loved going to gun shows. As a cooking enthusiast everyone who knew Jacob looked forward to when they could drop by for a piece of his famous key lime pie! In his world, it was hard to beat, family, friends, great food and fellowship.
Jacob was an active listener for God’s voice. A man totally in love with his Savior. He felt compelled to share the Truth with his friends and everyone he met. His faith remained resilient even through the physical challenges he experienced as a result of his illness
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Andrea; son and daughter in law Bobby & Whitney King and precious granddaughter, Reagan Marie who Jacob got to meet when she was born last December; bonus son, Tommy Mills; brother, Jim Spear with his wife Janet; sister, Jody Hand; mother in law, Shirley Anderson; greatly loved nieces and nephews, family members and cherished friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents John and Janet Spear; brother Jackie Spear; brother-in-law Michael Hand; sister-in-law Georgia Spear; and his father-in-law Rillon “Andy” Anderson.
If Jacob could say one last thing to each of us as we memorialize his life, and homegoing, he would challenge each of us with these words.... “To all my family and friends; Do all you can to join me here. My heart’s desire is that you all come to know Christ as your Lord and Savior. What a reunion we will have together!”
There will be a Celebration of Jacob’s life to be announced soon.
