Shawn W. Barry

Shawn William Barry, aged 45, passed away on the 25th March, 2020. He was born on the 27th October, 1974, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to the late James Marcano and Roselyn Barry.

At the young age of 20, Shawn entered the teaching profession. He considered it his way of paying forward the kindness showed to him by the many people who held him up throughout his life. Teaching allowed him to touch the lives of generations of students, who were grateful for his guidance and lessons. Besides teaching, his favourite activities were researching, adventuring and spending time with his family.

In 2011, Shawn seized an opportunity to migrate to the United States to seek a better future for his family. He started life anew in the city of Baltimore, Maryland. It was a good life but the weather was cold.

In 2016, he came to Sarasota for the warm weather and amazing beaches which he enjoyed thoroughly.

Shawn’s short but amazing life saw him deeply loved my many. He leaves to cherish his memory- Michelle Thompson-Barry, the love of his life for nearly 26 years, their son, T’Shawn and their daughter Aysha . He leaves behind brothers and sisters Desmond, Norris, Norma and Neomi. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Janelle and Kim, his nieces and nephews, Kendal, Daniel and Avion and several others in Trinidad and Tobago. He will also be forever loved and missed by his cousin Jean Bonaparte and aunt Coutain Bonaparte (Trinidad) and all the friends and family members around the world who could not be listed.
