Eleanor Presstman Kalish

Eleanor Presstman Kalish, 83, passed April 23, 2023. She was born August 27, 1939 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Joseph Taylor and Mary Helen (Presstman) Kuhn. Eleanor’s family were some of the original settlers, pioneers and founders of St. Petersburg. There is a large monument honoring her family members including Presstmans, Stoners and Gandys in Pioneer Park in downtown St. Petersburg across from the marina. Her great great uncle was George Gandy who first proposed, designed and built the Gandy bridge in 1924 which was the first of three connecting Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. This brought tremendous growth and prosperity to St. Petersburg. Eleanor graduated from Avon Park High School in 1957. She and her twin sister Esther both graduated from the Orange Memorial School of Nursing in Orlando. Eleanor was a Labor & Delivery RN since 1960. She came to Sarasota in 1999 from Thousand Oaks, California. She loved her ladies group from Sarasota Baptist and then later her football and beer gang who befriended her for many years. She loved watching (and purchasing) from QVC, making jewelry and Bucs football. Left to cherish her memory are her former husband, Jerry Kalish; children, Marti Maloney and her husband Chris Musgrave; Dean Maloney and his wife Rosena; Kathleen Kalish and her husband Phillip Brady; and Matthew Kalish and his wife Crystal; twin sister, Esther Lofton; brother, George Kuhn and his wife Pat; grandchildren, Ryan Kurtz and his wife Krista; Sean Kurtz and his wife Candace; Karina Ritchie; Justin Maloney and his wife Savannah; Paige Maloney (BF Caleb Poll); Madison Maloney (BF Jacob Copham); Brianna Musgrave; Joshua Kalish (GF Natalie Atento); Grant Kalish; and William Kalish; great grandchildren, Riley, Kathrine, Octavia and Elsie; nieces and nephews, Lynn Davison and Elizabeth Lofton; Scott and Todd Kuhn; Bill Hammond and his wife Charise; and Richard Hammond and his wife Debra. In addition to her parents, Eleanor is predeceased by her first husband Ralph Dean Maloney I; sister Mary Katherine Anderson; and niece Lisa Hammond.
