David Spanos

David Spanos passed away in Sarasota, Florida on October 1st, 2025, He was born in Hamilton, Ontario Canada on April 20th 1978. David received his Bachelor’s Degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.When he made the move to the United States, he went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a licensed CPA and worked in finance for the majority of his career. He also taught at the University of Miami, in Coral Gable, Florida. David was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness and was baptized at the age of 19. While in Massachusetts, he attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Greek congregation, and when he moved to Florida, he faithfully attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Davie and Osprey, where he also served for several years as a ministerial servant and congregation elder. He volunteered his time in preaching about God's Kingdom each week and studied the Bible with different ones, helping them to draw closer to God. In the congregation, he was known to come to people's rescue and help them out with whatever they needed, whether this involved post-hurricane repair work, preparing Greek meals for volunteer events, or visiting those who needed encouragement. On a routine basis, he would leave the house early, before his congregation meeting started, and set up the computer zoom meeting for an elderly lady in the local congregation. David showed the love of a Christian in everything he did. David was affectionately known as a family man, and loved taking his family on adventures through travel, visiting beaches, sports events, and cooking. More recently, David took his family to Greece, where he enjoyed seeking out the best "gyros" from morning till night. He also loved to play tennis with friends and especially his sons. David was very involved in cheering on his son's tennis team, and the coach even had to "keep him quiet" because he would shout so much encouragement to the team during the matches. David was everyone's cheerleader and brought so much positive energy to anyone he met. Left to cherish David’s bright memory are his devoted wife Daphne Spanos; sons Ariston Emmanuel Spanos, Leonidas Matthew Spanos; parents Evangelos and Anastasia Spanos; in-law parents Christos and Monica Georgiadis; brother Dan Spanos and his wife Melissa; brother-in-law Andrew Georgiadis; nieces and nephews Azlea, Kyra, Evangeline, Petros, Felipe; and his best friends Greg, Ricky, Robby, and Marco. He was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends in the United States, Canada, Greece, and Brazil. From Daphne: David was my "pooch," Ariston and Leonidas' Baba, but most importantly, Jehovah's faithful servant. We love you so much, our dear David, and we cannot wait for the day where Dan, Melissa, Andrew, our nieces, nephews, my mom and dad, your parents, the boys, and I hold you in our tightest embrace.
