Captain Kenneth Bagley December 5, 1946 – December 26, 2024 On December 26, 2024, Captain Kenneth Bagley was promoted to glory, entering into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. A man of deep faith, unwavering love, and countless talents, Ken’s life was a reflection of devotion to God, his family, and the mission of service he embraced wholeheartedly—always with the tenacious spirit of a beatnik hippie at heart. Born on December 5, 1946, Ken lived a life full of adventure, creativity, and purpose. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Sandra (“Sandy”), and together they built a life centered on faith and family. Their love story, which spanned over 40 years, was a testament to partnership, laughter, and grace. Ken proudly served in The Salvation Army for 17 years, dedicating his time and leadership to building support and ministries in Vero Beach and Leesburg, Florida, where the corps he helped to establish continue to serve communities today. One of his proudest accomplishments was facilitating the funding for the high ropes course at Camp Keystone, creating a place for growth, challenge, and joy for countless youth. At his core, Ken was a free spirit who loved to explore the world and create with his hands. Known for his adventurous side, he spent much of his life as a skilled craftsman, artist, and dreamer. He built two sailboats, capturing his love of the water and his independent spirit. Ken also had a passion for flying model planes, marveling at their precision and grace. His creativity extended to art, his joy to playing classical guitar, and his curiosity to ham radio. A lifelong learner and faithful leader, he was a devoted Bible study teacher, guiding others in their walk with Christ. Ken’s heart for service and love for life was matched only by his tenacity and determination. Whether advocating for others, working tirelessly on a new project, or reflecting on the deeper questions of life, Ken remained a beatnik soul who refused to settle for the ordinary. He brought light, joy, and a touch of rebellion to every room he entered. Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy; his children, Colleen, Leaett, Donna, Christopher, and Ethan; his many grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy; his brothers, Jeffery and Paul, and his sisters, Rosemary and Marjorie. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Bagley. Ken’s life will be celebrated at his Promotion to Glory Service on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM at The Salvation Army, 1701 S Tuttle, Sarasota, Florida, with a time of fellowship to follow. Though his absence leaves a deep void, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that Ken is now sailing the waters of heaven, free and at peace. His was a life well-lived for the glory of God, with the enduring spirit of a man who embraced life on his own terms while walking humbly with his Lord. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants.” – Psalm 116:15
