Caroline Mazelin

Caroline Mazelin of Sarasota, FL, passed away unexpectedly from a sudden heart attack on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota at the age of 83. She was born in Sellersville, PA, where she spent her childhood on the farm before moving to Madison, VA, at the age of 12. At the age of 7, Caroline placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and sought to honor God in all areas of her life, sharing the good news of Jesus with everyone she met. Caroline attended Moody Bible Institute where she met Roy, whom she married on June 24, 1967. Together they served in overseas missions in the Dominican Republic and Aruba before returning stateside to Berne, IN, for one year, then moved to Sarasota in 1975. Caroline was a faithful servant of Christ teaching Sunday school, Bible clubs, mentoring women young and old, thoroughly exercising her gift of hospitality, and encouraging everyone she met. She loved people, using meals and card playing as a means to connect people together, and always seemed to bring the conversation back to what God has done in her life and family. Caroline was preceded in death by her father Harold, mother Eleanor, and younger brother Harold, Jr. She is survived by her husband Roy whom she loved unconditionally, and her sons - of whom she was incredibly proud - Allen (Shawn) Mazelin, of Elkart, IN, and Mark (Janelle) Mazelin, of Cedarville, OH. Caroline was grandma to Ashley (Jon) Durand; Shannon (Tyler) Showers; Josiah (Bethany), Peyton, Caitlin, Claire, Andrew (Espi), and Austin Mazelin; and great-grandma to Nathan, Elijah, and Maci Showers; Levi and Lucy Durand, Eden; Aspen, and Haven Mazelin. She is also survived by sisters Virginia of Madison, VA, Patsy (Perry) Utz of Madison, VA, Sandra Gardner of Sarasota, FL, and Donna (Gary) Beidler of Sarasota, FL; and brother Charlie (Debbie) Landis of Sarasota, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” - 3 John 4 Friends and family may visit from 10-11 am, with a celebration of life service starting at 11 am, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Lakewood Ranch Baptist Church, 5600 Deer Dr, Sarasota, FL, and officiated by Pastor Michael Harsch.
