Cathy “Cam” Ann Maddox 1960 – 2025 Cathy “Cam” Ann Maddox, age 65, of Longboat Key, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. Born in LeMars, Iowa to loving parents Pat and Ken Christensen, Cathy carried her Midwestern warmth and resilience with her throughout her life. She had a generous heart, a friendly smile, and a deep love for her family and community. She lived life big, with an open heart and fiery enthusiasm that was contagious. Known to many as "Cam," Cathy touched lives with her kindness, strength, and unwavering support. She was a nurse, a mother, a wife, and an adored friend to so many. Throughout her life, she had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid tennis player turned pickleballer, she was a volunteer at Mote Aquarium, and she was a valued member of the Longboat Key turtle watch. She loved to craft, whether it be making stained glass, knitting, mosaicing, or making art out of seashells. One of her favorite hobbies was walking the beach, picking up the most beautiful collection of seashells to adorn her home with. Cathy’s curiosity of the world led her to travel far and wide to amazing places. Some of her favorites were the Galapagos Islands, Alaska, Hawaii, Iceland, and Denmark. On these trips, she gained more than just stamps on a passport, but friends she carried with her for the rest of her life. Whether she was on top of a mountain, trekking through ice caves, or in line at the grocery store, Cathy’s endearing, energizing magnetism drew in beautiful people and things throughout her entire life. Cathy made Sarasota her home in later years, finding beauty and peace in the sunshine and ocean breeze. Though she left us too soon, the beautiful wake that she left behind her will live on in the hearts and lives of those who were lucky enough to cross her path. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all those whose lives she has enriched. Today, she is walking the heavens with her mother, her father, her son Alex Pollema, and other loved ones who have passed. She is survived by her husband Brian Maddox, her children Anna Pollema, Abby and Ben Ferreira, Andrea Pollema, Brock Maddox, Mason Maddox, and Grant Maddox, and her beloved grandchildren, Holden and Ruby Ferreira and Margo, Lucy, and Hugo Pollema. She is survived by too many friends to count, who will no doubt carry on her legacy of love, laughter, beauty and light.
