Scott Michael "Gus" Guzzo

In Loving Memory of Scott Michael “Gus” Guzzo Scott Michael Guzzo, affectionately known as “Gus,” passed away on November 20, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on June 29, 1965, in Moline, Illinois, he moved with his family to Sarasota in 1973 and made it his lifelong home. He was a proud graduate of Riverview High School, Class of 1983. After high school, Gus built a respected 20-year career as a skilled tradesman in masonry before becoming a successful entrepreneur. He owned and operated US Air Conditioning, specializing in air-conditioning repair on heavy equipment. Known for his meticulous nature he approached work with dedication, precision, and pride. Gus took great care in everything he did, especially when it came to his lawn, his vehicles, and his home. Gus loved country music, especially when it was performed on his back patio by close friend Keith while surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, and valued time spent with the people he loved. Above all, he treasured the moments he shared with his son, Bret, the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his son Bret Guzzo and Bret’s wife Alexis; his girlfriend Amy; and his former wife Susan Wilkinson. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: • Brian Guzzo and his wife Kathy • Rob Guzzo and his wife Erin • James Guzzo and his wife Jodi • Jeff Guzzo and his wife Nitaya He leaves behind his granddaughter Adalynn, and his nephews Ryan, Alex, and Nicholas. Gus is also remembered with love by his stepchildren, Nicole and Arik Smith, and their children Maddox, Jaxon, Ty, and Olivia; as well as Arthur and Heather Dombroskie and their children Cody and Henry, all of whom he cared for deeply and welcomed as family. Gus will be remembered by many for his big heart, steady work ethic, and genuine caring, warmth, and humor he brought to every part of his life. His legacy lives on in the many people who loved him. “Someday my day will come. I’ll be in the presence of the Father and the Son. As I go running down the streets, there’ll be gold beneath my feet.
