Shannon Summer Marie (Gore) Torkelson March 18, 1991 – May 30, 2026 With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Shannon Summer Marie (Gore) Torkelson, who died unexpectedly on May 30, 2026, at the young age of 35 while riding her bike in Sarasota, Florida. Born on March 18, 1991, Shannon shared her birthday with her beloved older sister, Jacinda Gore. From a young age, she made friends easily. She was naturally social, loved being around people, and was known for her brilliant smile, cheerful and bubbly personality. Her laughter, smile, and spirit often became the centre of a room without her ever trying. Shannon was the beloved daughter of Sherry Gore and David Gore, and a loving sister to Jacinda Gore and Tyler Bairunas. On October 10, 2010, she married Richard Scott “Tick” Torkelson. Together they built a family and welcomed the children who became the center of her world: Gage Ryland Torkelson and Gentry Reese Torkelson. Shannon loved all things Florida, coastal, and brightly colored. Though life found her living far from the ocean, she was always a Florida girl at heart. She was drawn to sunshine, vibrant colors, warm breezes, and the beauty of the coast—things that reflected her own bright smile and cheerful spirit. She loved good food, never turned down a slice of pie, and dreamed of becoming a writer like her mother. Life brought Shannon both joy and profound sorrow. She walked through the heartbreaking loss of her sister, Jacinda, followed by the loss of her precious daughter, Lacey, and later her stepfather, Toby. These losses left a lasting mark on her heart and became defining moments in her life’s journey. She never stopped grieving those she lost, carrying their memory with her always. Above all else, Shannon was a mother. Her children were her pride and joy, and she loved them fiercely. The happy moments they shared together were among the greatest treasures of her life. Those who loved her best will remember her for her bright smile, her love of color and sunshine, her zest for life, and her infectious laughter. She enjoyed good company, cherished happy moments, and had a way of bringing energy and excitement wherever she went. Shannon is survived by her husband, Richard Scott “Tick” Torkelson; her son, Gage Ryland Torkelson; her daughter, Gentry Reese Torkelson; her mother, Sherry Gore; her father, David Gore; her brother, Tyler Bairunas; her niece, Callie Mae Bairunas; her grandparents, David Gore Sr. and Mary Gore; and many beloved extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Jacinda; her beloved daughter, Lacey; and her stepfather, Toby. The family wishes to thank all those who have surrounded them with love, prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
