Tracy G. Nelson

Tracy G Nelson, 48, passed away July 4th 2022, in Sarasota, FL. She was surrounded in a loving environment by her husband, parents, and oldest child. Tracy was born in San Diego, California on June 7th, 1974, to Terence and Tammie (Reeves) Glum. She moved around between Georgia, Alabama and Florida as a child but ultimately settled in Georgia. Her oldest daughter, Veronica, was born in 1992. It was the beginning of her favorite role in life, as a mother. Tracy met Russ in 1999 and they quickly became inseparable. They were married in August of 2002 in Kennesaw GA. Tracy’s second daughter, Kaia, was born in 2006. In 2007, they made the decision to move to Sarasota, Florida to be closer to family. Shortly thereafter in 2008, Lindsey was born, completing their family. Tracy held several positions in different areas of the business world ranging from management at a veterinarian’s office to loan processing to management of a medical office. She was the family’s anchor and heart. She expressed her passion through her artwork as an accomplished photographer and as of late through her macramé. Tracy was a dichotomy, a lover and a fighter, passionate at both, a true Gemini. She was fierce, fearless, and loving all at the same time. She would go to the ends of the earth for those she loved and harnessed an incredible strength that drew people to her. She made people want to be near, to catch the glimpse of that strength and light. Her early years were not always easy, but she gained an internal strength that helped her forge her own path, in her own time. That strength is what drew her loving husband to her, and together they created a life that was whole and complete. She was a dedicated and loving mother to three beautiful daughters, always their constant cheerleader and confidant. She was dedicated to enriching the lives of her children with her time and effort. She spent countless hours as the coordinator of the Southside Yearbooks, volunteering for Awana, attending swimming meets, or volleyball games. She relished in their accomplishments and comforted them in their sorrows. Tracy was a once in a lifetime mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. We will miss her always. Left to cherish her memory are, Russ, her husband of 20 years; daughters, Veronica (Erik) Dorr in North Port, Kaia and Lindsey Nelson in Sarasota; sister, Nikki (Eric) Murray in San Diego, CA; brother, Gary Glum in Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren, Izabella, Brantley and Shayne; parents, Terry and Dorothy Glum; and Tammie Friday; along with many other family and friends. Russ and his family would like to thank his firehouse family who allowed him to spend the past 7 weeks by her side.
